November 10th, 2009 — The Sharka Rebuild, Wheels
This blog post has been a long time coming. A long time. As long as I’ve been rebuilding my car since The Bonk. See, after I decided to rebuild Sharka, I started looking around for a new set of wheels. That was last November. I found these unique RP-F1s in June. I paid for them around the beginning of July. And now they are MINE.
September 3rd, 2009 — DIY, Exterior, The Sharka Rebuild
One of the final things needed for The Sharka Rebuild project was some paint work on the driver’s side lower door panels. Being an extremely professional car guy, I decided rattle cans were the only way to go.
July 18th, 2009 — Suspension, The Sharka Rebuild
After getting my suspension all set where I wanted it, it was time for an alignment. I went over to Boulevard Automotive (2nd and Candelaria) and had Keith work his magic. $100 and some change and I went from basket case handling to smooth and precise. Well worth it.

Here we are! The final part of the TEIN rebuild tale. Part 1 and part 2 can be seen on their respective links. The UPS tracking showed that I’d come home to find my TEINs waiting for me tonight. It was not wrong. There was a happy box on my doorstep with a familiar logo. […]

Remember part 1 of the rebuild? Click that link if you don’t. I received notification from TEIN today that my shock rebuild is finished! The total was $524 before shipping. That’s a good $15 cheaper than their low estimate and shipping with paypal was $1 more than their high estimate. I’m happy with that. And […]
March 17th, 2009 — The Sharka Rebuild, Wrench Turning
It was a big weekend of car work. A long weekend. Loonnnnnnng….. Half of Saturday and all of Sunday. And it was good. And I didn’t lose any fingers or toes. I started with the rollbar. This marks the 3rd rollbar I’ve installed in a Miata. I always wondered if it was possible to install […]

Something that’s been in the back of my mind for a while, long before my 97’s wreck, is having my TEIN shocks rebuilt. The shocks have something like 60,000 miles on them. I’m the 2nd owner. The first owner was my buddy Tom, who used them on his 99 for about a year. They were […]
February 11th, 2009 — Interior, Sharka pix
Not much to talk about here, I just wanted to post this shot of Sharka’s interior to the blog. I’ve tried to take shots like this before that show the whole interior without focusing on a specific small part and have sometimes struggled with it. It’s hard to get a good angle that gives a […]
January 26th, 2009 — Exterior, Sharka pix, The Sharka Rebuild
I’m really proud of this shot. It has a lot going on that you can’t immediately see in the photo. A lot of meaning, to me. I’ll try to explain. The MX-5 logo is from the first Sharka. Sarah bought it for me for Christmas a few years ago from a UK website. I’ve always […]
