2017 revlimiter Calendar – All Sharka Edition

The 2017 calendar!

The 2017 calendar!

It’s that time of year again. Time for another revlimiter Miata calendar.

This year is a bit different. This year, it’s All Sharka.

When I was making the 2016 calendar, there was a lot of drama with the photo contest. See, the rules stated that you were supposed to take and submit your own photos for the calendar. It’s meant to be a reason to get your camera out and shoot. The best photos are chosen and get to hang on the wall for a month along with the owner’s name or username under the car.

One of the winners had a “photographer” shoot his car. He submitted the photo and it was chosen. All the winners were informed. I got the artwork finalized, color proofs made and corrected, and posted the calendar for sale.

That very day this person informs me that the “photographer” wanted a credit for the pic. When I told him that wasn’t possible (the artwork was already finished), there was no space in the template for a 2nd name, and it violated the contest rules anyway, he said the “photographer” was planning to sue me.

I took the calendar down, deleted the offending image, and compiled a new calendar. It took hours. I still have a bad taste in my mouth.

In fact, I promised myself I’d not do another calendar again.

Folks on the Clubroadster forum bumped last year’s calendar thread and begged for another one. Just some Miatas to hang on the wall. And they were so nice. It made me feel bad for not wanting to do a calendar this year.

So I scoured my network drives and photo archives. I put together the best collection of past Sharka photos I could. I made a 2017 calendar.

Thanks for posting, CR folks! I really appreciate you guys. And I’ll do another calendar contest for 2018.

Always a shame when egos ruin a good thing. Frankly, if you just cannot let even a single shot out there into the public domain, you should probably find a better use of your time. =/

That, or you know, make your own calendar? I thought the contest was fun.

Some people are so sad. I bought one anyway because I could look at sharka all day (:

Glad you’re bringing the contest back next year! I want to get on it
