Paint Blog 4: Dat Ass

Just look at that tail. It’s glorious. It’s beautiful. It’s what I’ve always wanted.

It’s full of stars.

Bonded, glassed, and blended.

Bonded, glassed, and blended.

One piece.

One piece.

Wow.

Wow.

The last time I was at the shop, there was just talk about the tail light panel. There was discussion. It was Friday afternoon. It *might* get bonded on that afternoon.

I stopped by Monday at noon. All of it was done.

Yes. Very yes.

Yes. Very yes.

The panel was glued in place with 3M panel bonding glue. It is quite strong. The panel will rip apart before the edges break free. At least that’s what I was told.

Then it was glassed in. A couple layers of fiberglass are on the fenders and over the panel. And on top of that is some filler to make things smooth.

I’m so happy, you guys. So happy.

Love that fender.

Love that fender.

Bumpers all smooth.

Bumpers all smooth.

Yay!

Yay!

The big pile of parts is all scuffed and smooth. There were some huge gouges on my back bumper behind the right wheel. The front bumper had some damage too. All of that is gone now.

The TSIs and headlight lids got love too, though I managed to not take photos. Everything that’s getting primer is ready for it. And that’s the next step – primer.

Sharka really might be done in 2 weeks. This is only 4 days worth of work. I’m amazed.

I believe that is what Garage Vary had in mind when they made the tail lamps. I don’t believe in much but I believe they cringe when they see what they created just ‘mounted’. Well done, you. Well damn done.

Every time I see a Pitcrew just mounted… man. It’s a gorgeous kit, but it deserves more than just mounting.

And the Garage Vary tails deserve it too.

      And thanks!!!
