Whoa. I thought I posted this last week. I managed to not hit the “publish” button on the blog. I’m getting old.
So, here’s Sharka’s latest part – a RyokuRob v2 rear tow hook. Sharka wore a v1 RR tow hook a few years ago, but it really scraped on everything. Like… everything. I loved the style and strength of the hook, but throwing down sparks after tiny bumps on the freeway got old really quick.
As I mentioned, I’m getting old. ha!
Since Sharka had a tow hook installed previously, the install was seriously minutes of work. Seconds actually. Torque down two bolts. DONE.
This hook works for both the R-package rear lip and the factory bumper without a lip installed. And there’s a whole bunch of other holes for higher mounting. It probably looks quite good with a trimmed bumper as well.
THAT is what I’m talking about. The new tow hook gives slightly greater than 2″ of extra clearance. Like 2.125″ if I remember correctly. That’s huge. That means not scraping unless it was a truly enormous bump and I hit it way too fast.
This tow hook is every bit as strong as the last and can be used as a jack point. There are photos floating around the internet of this. I didn’t shoot any because Sharka’s ass was already up in the air.
I love the design of this hook. It’s gorgeous, functional, and exactly what I wanted. Huge thanks to Project-G for rushing this to me. I hope to return the favor as soon as possible.
And now to go tear apart a pair of perfectly good Elise seats. Why? For science!
Exige seat conversion?
Re-foaming the seats. The Probax padding is a pain in the bax. lol
Really ? Do you think it weared off ? Because I done 1800km in similar seats (Edinburgh – Geneva road trip in a friend’s freshly bought Elise), and I’m basically plotting to steal his seats for my car
Are you doing the Kemmler stuff? Looking forward to seeing your experiment either way.
Yes sir! I just finished posting.
Question did you cut the mud flaps or the bumper skirt to get them to work togeather?
I cut the mud flaps. My logic was that I’ll always want the rear skirt on the car, but might want to remove the mud flaps.
Looks good. I have the old design too, scrapes everything everywhere. Hopefully they become available again.
Hit Project G with an email and ask!
SCIENCE!!!
Why do I have “She blinded me with science” in my head now?
So im unable to find one of these beauties, other than posts about what apeared to be a group buy in 2013, and 2014…
I contacted Project G and they had a few extras.
Looking for a RyokuRob type 2 rear tow hook…do you know where I can purchase?
