revlimiter Keychains

A Dino-load of keychains.

Here’s something about a year in the making – keychains!!!

The initial product lineup.

The initial product lineup.

These were originally made by R2 Limited, but have been out of production for a while. Last year, Steve passed along his key chain knowledge and art files to me. And it’s taken me a while since then, (gauge orders make new product rollout very slow) but I’ve finally got all the tools and materials put together to be able to sell these little pieces of jewelery again.

Brace yourself for toy photos.

The production technique is pretty similar to Steve’s process. The keychains consist of multiple layers of cut vinyl on top of each other. Then it’s sealed with a dome of water-clear jeweler’s epoxy. And, thanks for my crazy gauge printer, I’m able to do some of the artwork with printed vinyl as well. This lets me do some very small details like the black Eunos logo on the fob that Hot Rod is holding above.

The epoxy I’m using cures very quickly under UV light, so I’m able to make a set of key fobs in just a couple hours. Next day shipping is indeed possible. I’m very happy about this.

The downside is that the epoxy is not rated for outdoor exposure. It will yellow. That means that wheel center caps are not currently possible. But I’m hoping to have something figured out in a few months after testing different resins.

And more custom keychains!

And more custom keychains!

In addition to the regular models, I’ve spent some time making custom keychains for a few folks. Just to see what was possible with the materials. So far, I’ve been very impressed. The materials are great and the finished products are so darn pretty.

As you might have guessed, the Star Shark keychain belongs to Sharka.

Want a keychain of your own? They’re in my store for ordering right now. Standard models are priced at $19 and custom designs start at $35.

These are REALLY nice. I have a Martini one in my hands right now – thanks Adam!

Might have to have you make one of these for the Supra, if you’re still making them this summer. Not much sense in having a sweet keychain for a snowball of a project haha.

That said, I’m digging the vintage Mazda ones too. Would be nice to replace the leather/aluminum one that came from the previous owner of my car…

    • Adam says:

I had one of those same leather ones! It was the model for my Version NOS.

And a Supra keychain would be no problem at all. I don’t see stopping production on these any time soon. I’ve made nearly 100 in the past couple weeks.

Given your steering wheel collection, can I assume that Momo-compatible horn buttons are not far behind?

    • Adam says:

I will only describe one of the stock shelves in my shop to answer this question.

      6 NA6 Hazard switches
      4 NA8 Hazard switches
      1 Grant horn button
5 Momo horn buttons (from my collection)
      1 Nardi horn button
      1 Personal horn button

So… yeah. I’m working on it. I want that product SO bad.

I’ll keep an eye on your site. I need a horn button for my car… and a few gift ideas come to mind. 🙂
