JIS Driver Details
Made by Vessel - the company that came up with the JIS standard. Compatible with both the old JIS standard and newer
screws being made today.
The tip of each driver is magnetic and grabby. It holds the fastener very well. The knurled shaft makes spinning a screw on very
easy and fast.
Note the differences between the JIS and Phillips. The JIS is designed to grip the screw and not cam out like
a Phillips does. Driver bits shown for easy comparison.
The JIS makes full contact with a Japanese screw and actually grips it rather than just sitting inside. This means you
don't have to press incredibly hard to maintain contact and get a screw tight.
The Megadora handles are made of both rubber and hard plastic. This means they don't slip out of your hand, but they're not
mushy like a solid rubber handle driver. They're very nice to hold.
The Screwdriver Sets
An exclusive Vessel set for revlimiter.net - Ramona's Tool Kit.
These drivers feature a unique wavy octagonal grip polypropylene handle designed to stay in your hand
even when they get greasy or oily. Ramona's tools feel lightweight thanks to their unique manufacturing but don't sacrifice any strength.
The cross-point
drivers are JIS spec, feature the same magnetic tip as the Megadora drivers below, and are fully hardened chrome vanadium steel.
You get four cross-point driver and two slotted, color coated so you can quickly identify them in a drawer or toolbox. The cost is low so you
can add a set to a trunk toolkit, but the quality is high so you could easily use this set as your ONLY screwdriver kit. You won't find these drivers
anywhere else.
- Six piece set.
- P.0 x 75mm
- P.1 x 75mm
- P.1 x 100mm
- P.2 x 150mm
- 4mm x 100mm
- 6mm x 150mm
The Miata Repair Kit is the original JIS driver set. You get a bunch of JIS cross point drivers to fit just about any fastener you
might encounter on a Miata. And it's not necessarily a Miata-specific set. Any Japanese car or motorcycle will be much more
enjoyable to work on with these drivers in your tool chest.
- P.0 x 75mm
- P.1 x 75mm
- P.2 x 100mm
- P.2 x 25mm stubby
- P.3 x 150mm
Bucky's Toolkit upgrades the Miata Repair Kit with three slot head drivers. Why? Because it's a bummer to grab your old
plastic slot head driver after getting used to the grippy Megadora handle.
- Eight piece set.
- P.0 x 75mm
- P.1 x 75mm
- P.2 x 100mm
- P.2 x 25mm stubby
- P.3 x 150mm
- 4mm x 75mm
- 6mm x 25mm stubby
- 8mm x 150mm
The slot head drivers are magnetic, just like their JIS brothers. Just the thing for the random annoying slotted screw you
encounter in various projects.
Sharka's Toolkit upgrades the above kits with an Impacta P.2 driver and a ratcheting driver set full of JIS driver bits.
This gives you fourteen different drivers.
- Fourteen piece set.
- P.0 x 75mm
- P.1 x 75mm
- P.2 x 100mm
- P.2 x 25mm stubby
- P.3 x 150mm
- 4mm x 75mm
- 6mm x 25mm stubby
- 8mm x 150mm
- P.2 x 100mm Impact
- P.1, P.2, P.3, 6mm bits.
- Ratcheting driver with storage handle.
What's an Impacta driver? It's a Megadora that you hit with a hammer to loosen stuck screws. Every hit turns the shaft 12 degrees. However,
you don't need to blast it with a Fusion Cannon to get it to turn. A solid hit is enough. And the driver works like a normal
P2 screwdriver when you're not hitting it with things.
For those who like JIS bits (like me), there's a very nice ratcheting handle and full set of cross point tips. The tips
are magnetic and hold screws wonderfully.
JIS Bit Sets
The two sets are shown here. The regular set (shown left) includes P.0 and standard P.1 and P.2 drivers. The large set
(shown right) includes a P.3 bit and two "large" ones in P.1 and P.2 size. The large bits are designed for deep fasteners, but
will work with standard screws exactly the same as the regular drivers.
- Three pieces each set.
- Small set: P.0, P.1, and P.2
- Large set: P.1, P.2, and P.3
- 1/4" hex (6.35mm) standard sized driver bits.
- Handle/driver not included.
About These Drivers
JIS driver bits are not made by revlimiter.net. They are supplied by Vessel Japan. I usually have these in stock and
ready to ship. If they're not in stock, I'll either contact you to inform you of any delay or have a message shown on
the page above indicating a restock date.
