January 13th, 2013 — Sharka pix
I’ve been thinking about this post for a while. Since finishing up with the NA6 interior really. Sharka has just felt so… good. Right. Perfect. Everything is exactly how I want it.
Sharka feels done.
This past October, I had the chance to attend a two day autocross event. I’m embarrassed to say that it was my first time aiming my bumper at cones in about four years. That means it was my first event with a big hair drier bolted to the side of my engine. You know, the one that’s been there for over two years.
Oh well, better late than never.
Does anyone else hear voices in their head?

My hometown of Albuquerque was apparently the premier place to watch the May 2012 annular eclipse. The path of maximum coverage passed right through the city and full coverage (97%) was set to happen very near the horizon. Photographers came from all over the country to catch it.
So yeah, of course I wanted to shoot my car under this sky.
I woke up around 5am ready to go. No alarm clock. No trace of sleepiness remained. Nothing but a plan in my head. That plan involved driving around the downtown alleys and taking pics of my new Star Sharks.

I met up with my buddy Josh of Lunchbox PhotoWorks the other day to take some car photos. But not just any car photos. Rig photos.
I love my hardtop. I mean seriously. It’s my hardtop. I don’t call it “Sharka’s hardtop” but rather “mine”. It transforms the Miata from a floppy noodle into a real car. It offers a barrier against skin cancer and the weather. It looks gorgeous.
And then I got the bikini top.

A single shot of Sharka under a smoke covered sky. I call it “Not Quite Tatooine.”

After a year and a very long winter, I finally took Sharka’s hardtop off.

This is my Miata. There are 900,000 like it in the world, but this one is mine. I call it Sharka, and it is my best friend. It is my life…
