Spotlight: Blue Jay

A wild Blue Jay appears!

A wild Blue Jay appears!

I got a DM on instagram the other day from my buddy Jeo. He was gonna be coming through town and wanted to meet up. And it was on the ONE day this week that I could do something, soooo… it’s spotlight blog post time!

A word of warning – I was woefully unprepared for this one. I didn’t have a real camera on me, so all of the pix you see on this post are shot with my phone. I hope I did justice to Blue Jay.

I’ve known Jeo online for a long time, but never got to meet. He took an impromptu spring break roadtrip and drove out west.

Jeo wanted to check out some Breaking Bad locations, so we drove around ABQ a bit and saw the sights.

First stop was Gus Fring’s laundry followed by Combo’s corner and the ABQ Railyard. I love the Railyard. I miss trespassing taking pix all day inside the place.

Jeo’s car Blue Jay is quite the machine. Just gorgeous. And I’m not just saying because of the high revlimiter-made part content. Blue Jay is fantastic.

The Akina Speed Stars sticker really made me smile. I may need to do one on Sharka somewhere.

And those wheels! Lovely. Compomotive I think? Maybe Mini-lite? They’re wide and aggressive and fantastic.

Road trippin’ on Toyo R888s?? Yeah. Mad respect right there.

At the White's.

Our Breaking Bad tour ranged all over. From downtown to uptown to the heights. We ended up at the Walter White house. Annnd… the owners were kicking back in the garage with the door open, orange cones in front of their house, and lots of no-trespassing signs. They… um… were not too happy to see visitors. Seems the constant stream of Breaking Bad fans have finally rubbed them the wrong way. They were SO nice last time I visited. Alas.

So, Jeo and I chatted a good distance away from the house for a while before heading out to lunch. It’s a shame to not get a good pic in front of Walt’s house, but nothing so minor can keep a couple of Roadster maniacs down.

Sorry for darkening your morning, White-House-Owners! I hope you didn’t mind a couple tiny cars being parked far away from your place for a few minutes.

More Blue Jay pix. There were just so many things to see on the car. I don’t think I managed to scratch the surface.

I’m still kicking myself for not packing a real camera.

Sharka had to borrow the wheel.

Sharka had to borrow the wheel.

Blue Jay wears this “Arrigorni” wheel right now. It’s identical to the Watanabe Falcon, but with wood instead of leather. It’s… lovely. I’ve wanted one for a while, but haven’t managed to find one for sale. And Jeo’s wheel really re-awakened the desire.

It even looks nice with Sharka’s wood brake grip and shifter.

2 thumbs up!

Thanks for hanging out this morning Jeo!!! I hope the rest of your trip kicks ass!

Blue Jay’s build thread is here on CR. It’s worth a read! What a gorgeous Roadster.

Nice car there. As eahc time I see a nice mariner blue build, the thought of color changing my classic red surfaces again…

  • James says:

what air intake is it that he is using? I have never seen one like that.

I am truly honored for BlueJay to live on forever in your blog. It was a pleasure to finally meet you Adam! Now, time for a ‘BlueJay guided tour’ in LA!

Not legit Speed Stars decal unless it’s wrinkled! 😀

It’s weird for me to think about a Breaking Bad tour. That show must do wonders for tourism in ABQ. When I first started reading this blog, I hadn’t known Walter White as anyone other than poor ol’ Hal. Seeing the pics you post now though, I know where you are! Brings new meaning to what are otherwise just normal buildings…

As for Bluejay, I dig it, nice car Jeo.
