Happiness is a New Helmet
February 19th, 2011 | Racing
Shoei RF-1100 in silver.
This is the 2nd helmet I’ve ever owned. I’ve suffered along with the same uncomfortable bargain rack KBC helmet for all of my racing life. It finally expired, so I treated myself to something a bit nicer.
I had to have the smoked visor.
The RF-1100 is Snell M2010 rated. I’ve never needed an SA-rated helmet for the track days and autocrosses I attend. I think this one will suit me for the next few years. Maybe the next 10 years.
Did I mention it’s incredibly comfortable? A huge step up from my old broken down one. And a smoked visor that’s UV-treated to keep some sun off my nose! I’m pretty happy. And getting it on a nice sale makes me even happier.
The Beatles had it wrong. Happiness isn’t a warm gun. Nope. It’s totally a new helmet.
