S2000 Badges

The Type H badge.

My buddy Alex has owned his S2000 for years. I’ve always wanted to make something for it, but thanks to the digital cluster and my mostly just making gauges, I never really had a chance.

Then I started making badges and stuff.

The photo above kinda spoils where this is going.

The round badge really works with all the other round features.

Such a perfect fit! Just like it was an NA Miata nose or something. The Honda designers put the mounting holes nice and close together. The 58mm badge covers them perfectly with a ton of room to spare.

And that ass. I was all excited about the nose badge, but the tail badge is even better. The round tail lights really make it shine. Suddenly a square badge seems very out of place. That ass demanded something round.

The Type H badge is based on a vintage Honda logo from the 60s. The original was also round. It was only used on very few models. There was a slightly different version that included the HONDA text logo below the H. They used that one fairly often on the 60s era horn buttons, but the nose badge was pretty rare. I had a devil of a time finding any good photo examples. A 45* angled shot that Alex sent me was the best example out there.

I ended up drawing this badge logo freehand. Have I mentioned how much I love my Wacom tablet? Also, doing this sort of thing every day really helps. Anyways, it’s 100% original art, not a tracing or a copy or something downloaded. I’m pretty proud of it.

Not sure about selling this item to the public. Honda seems to take that sort of thing very seriously. But making one for a buddy and posting pix on my blog? THAT is something that makes me much happier than adding another item to my store. So, for the moment, this is a one-off.

And I couldn’t finish this off without having a shot of Sharka in the front, could I?

Enjoy the vintage badge, Alex! And for everyone else, you can get the Type H Badge in the revlimiter store now.

You’re just reminding me how much I’d love an S2000 for the fleet. If there weren’t such amazing potential to be had at very reasonable prices in the Miata spectrum, I’d have likely bought an s2k instead of a third Miata haha.

Anyway, the badges look really nice, like they came off an old S600 or something. Perhaps you could get permission from Honda North America to sell them if you so desired?

I know this is an old thread. I was wondering if by any chance you could still make this emblem? I would love to purchase one low key. I can send you my info.

Wow! I love these retro Red Honda Badges. I put the OEM ones from another car on my Fit, even though no Fit’s in North America got the red badge from the factory. This is a nice take on making it retro and seeing the old two holes for badge replacement reminds me of my old green integra. Miss that car.
